The E-HIS Basic Hand Splinting course reviews the basics of assessing and splinting the following hand and wrist conditions:

  • Mallet Finger
  • Trigger Finger
  • Carpel Tunnel

The course is designed to help therapists build their hands-on skills in fabricating static splints with various thermoplastic materials.

Course Objectives include:

  • A review of hand anatomy and physiology
  • learn a basic hand evaluation
  • understand the use and application of various thermoplastics
  • understand the reasons for splint positioning and treatment duration
  • be able to fabricate a digit gutter splint, MCP blocking splint, and wrist positioning splint
  • be able to analyze the splints effectiveness through clients treatment progression
